Savonnerie. This lively work of art has a design which adds elegance, and a color combination which adds life, to its surroundings. Varying shades of pink, gray and ocher are used to create curvilinear motifs against the light golden background. The center is an oval medallion similar to the French ceilings of that era which were filled with realistic flowers, fruits and leaves. The same color combination is used in the background. However, this time the design is less crowded, creating a pleasant contrast between the medallion and the background. The border is also filled with naturalistic flowers and fruit wrapped with a gray ribbon, similar to an endless fruit basket. On each corner, an architectural circular shape of that era is woven in gold and ocher. The outer minor border is exclusively woven in gold to enhance the design. To walk on this beauty is to walk into the elegant gardens of the 17th-century French royal courts.
